Julius

I have a lovely friend named Julius. He commissioned me to make a smudge fan.  Instead of forcing myself to work on it, I simply allowed supplies to come to me.  I knew what feathers to use but didn’t know how the handle of the fan would look like.  I wanted the handle to look natural, and in fact, wanted the entire fan to represent his gentle and strong wisdom.

I was walking along the shores of Slocan Lake, when I came across a beautiful branch.  Perfect for a handle!  Upon returning to the west coast, I made the smudge fan and presented it to my friend. When I explained to him where I had found the handle, he turned to me and said, “My daughter just moved to that area!”

Ah, no wonder that branch spoke to me 🙂
